This Project was carried out in the Lake District National Park which presented us with all the usual challenges for example the use of natural materials such as slate roofs, local stonework etc. Commencing with the demolition of the existing farmhouse porch, allowing the addition of a striking glass fronted porch. The porch was nestled between the newly built utility room and the existing barn. Additionally, the derelict part of the farmhouse was transformed into a yoga room and upstairs gallery bedroom comprising of oak floors and a solid oak staircase. Extensive structural work had to be undertaken inside the adjoining barn, this included the construction of a steel reinforced concrete block wall to buttress and support the 200 year old gable end of the farmhouse.
